Paint It Black!

The colour black has had a lot of publicity recently with the latest Black Friday having happened on Friday 27th November. Black Friday is the day immediately after Thanksgiving in the US and which increasingly heralds the start of the Christmas shopping season. The reference to black signifies the anticipated health of an organisation’s bank balance after all the profit they make on Black Friday!

But fascination with the colour black is nothing new. Back in 1966, the Rolling Stones song ‘Paint It Black’ topped the charts in both the UK and the US. Jagger sang:

“I see a red door and I want it painted black

No colours any more, I want them to turn black”
