Sisters are doing it for themselves!

At DIY Homefit we were fascinated to hear about a talk by historian Professor Maggie Andrews at The Hay Festival.   According to Andrews –  author of The Acceptable Face of Feminism: 100 Years of the Women’s Institute – modern women are turning to domesticity “as an antidote to the drudgery of the workplace and the horrors of society.

Five things to do with an old kitchen cupboard

So the time has finally come for your kitchen cupboard replacement and you will soon be enjoying summer in your wonderful new kitchen.  But spare a thought for your old kitchen cupboards!  What is going to happen to them?  They have served you well over the years …. do they really deserve just to end up in a skip at the local waste recycling centre, or in the garage awaiting Bonfire Night?

DIY on the move!

We are now living in the days when more people use phones and tablet computers to access the Internet than desktop computers.   Never one to be behind the times, DIY Homefit are delighted to announce the arrival of our new mobile-friendly website!

What’s hiding behind the doors?!

When planning a new bedroom it is easy to be seduced by images of minimalistically chic bedrooms with clean sharp lines and not a thing out of place.  In a recent blog we looked at easy ways to declutter and it may be that if you opened the wardrobe and cupboard doors you would find an equal state of perfection!   But as many of us do struggle to keep things tidy, it is good to know that there are a variety of storage and wardrobe solutions available.

The Magic of Mirrors

At this time of year, as the sun finally makes its appearance, we all begin to realise the therapeutic properties of light.  Everything seems just that little bit better when the sun is shining, and there is a more positive atmosphere in the air.  Many of us feel that it would be wonderful to have a lighter brighter home all year round.

The DIY Challenge!

As Cambridge University’s Peterhouse College win the latest series of University Challenge, is it time for a little challenge in your life?  If you’re anything like us at DIY Homefit, you may struggle to answer some of the University Challenge questions but don’t let that put you off pushing yourself in a different direction.

Eating the Elephant one bite at a time

If like some of us at DIY Homefit you are old enough to remember the 1980’s craze for time management training you will be very familiar with the above phrase!  It is also still widely used today.  If not, let us explain – and don’t worry: no elephants (or any other animals for that matter!) have been harmed in the creation of this article!
